B...for Betsy

B…..for Betsy Game Day gear

Just the other day a friend of ours was talking about how she can never find any cute game day outfits or accessories because her team colors are not easily found in mainstream fashion. This complaint is something we have heard before and we know firsthand that it can be hard to find unique game day apparel week after week.

Well B….for Betsy has just the thing! You might have already heard about this company…Betsy has been feature on many talk shows and new programs. Whether you support a team from the NFL, NBA, MLB or college, there is a jazzy item for you. My favorite item is the scarf. They are cashmere and have crystals spelling out the team name. This would be perfect for an outdoor in late November!! Not every team is yet represented but line is expanding fast so check out the website for team availability.

Deck out Your Vehicle with Team Spirit

The Queens of Game Day are always trying to make your Game Days bigger and better!! Why not show your team spirit before you even get to your tailgate! Deck out your car or RV with these fantastic tailgate skins. Tailgate Skins are a vinyl material that adheres to your car, RV, etc. They are so much sturdier than the old school team magnets. We once put a “G” on our RV during a trip to Tuscaloosa and it fell off mid-drive. Completely unacceptable! These aren’t just for NFL and college football fans; they make NASCAR, NHL, NBA, MLB and even MLS. There is a big race this weekend down at Atlanta Motor Speedway and I’m sure there will be lots of fans looking for additional ways to support their favorite driver. What’s cooler is that you can create your own!! High school sports are huge in the south so create you own tailgate skin to support your school.

Check out SkinIt for all the details and the different teams.   They are very cool and reasonably priced! They are currently hosting a contest, I entered and received a $5 off code for my next purchase. So, this year step up your tailgate game and arrive in style!

Happy Game Day!

College Football Helmet Schedule

These schedules only appeared within the last five years or so but they are one of my favorite things about the off-season. They usually come out in April or May but by August they have made their way around offices and dorms nationwide.

We used the helmet schedule in one of our posts last year but some genius put all of these schedules in one place and bought the domain, http://www.collegefootballhelmetsschedule.com/. So handy, enjoy!

Wine Rack Bra

We are tired of all these products that easily allows for men to carry concealable beverage containers into the ballgames, the “Beer Belly”and the“Sneaky Shorts?” We ladies want in on the action too! It isn’t exactly easy to strap on a couple liquid pouches when you are in your perfect Game Day outfit.

No way I am wearing this to a tailgate!
Well, may I introduce to you the Wine Rack Flask Bra...the Boob Enhancing Beverage Bra.  They claim to “turn you’re A’s into double D’s.” Upside: These double D’s are filled with wine (or beer or Jack Daniels.) These puppies sell for $29.95, seems pretty reasonable when you amortize that price over a couple tailgating seasons. Not surprising, this product was featured a couple years ago in Playboy and then recently on the Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda (click here for link)

This product seriously gives new meaning to the phrase “my cup runneth over…”

Fall is Just Around the Corner!

You know Spring Practice is over and Fall is right around the corner when the Pre-Season All-American lists and the Pre-Season Top 25 lists come out. But, even better, College Football is really right around the corner when SEC Media Days are here. And this week in Birmingham has been a doozy: AGENTS! Or as Alabama coach Saban likes to call them "pimps” and Florida coach Meyer likes to call them “predators.” Who should be held accountable? Players? Coaches and administration? How about the NFL?

But, we digress….let’s focus on football.

Here is the list of 2010 Pre-season All-Americans and our prediction for the 2010 BCS Champion…

The College Football Live Top 25:

1 Alabama
2 Ohio State
3 Boise State
4 Texas
5 Virginia Tech
6 TCU
7 Florida
8 Iowa
9 Nebraska
10 Oregon
11 Wisconsin
12 Oklahoma
13 Miami
14 LSU
15 USC
16 Pittsburgh
17 Georgia Tech
18 Arkansas
19 Penn State
20 Oregon State
21 Florida State
22 Cincinnati
23 Georgia
24 Stanford
25 North Carolina

Our prediction for the 2010 National Champion? Why, the Alabama Crimson Tide of course! The defending BCS national champions must replace seven players who were selected in the NFL draft but with an offense built around reigning Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and sophomore Trent Richardson. These two could be the best running back duo in the country and they will surely put all the other BCS contenders to the test.

Woo hoo, only 44 days until the college football season starts!

Walking Taco - Fiesta Party in Your Mouth

The other weekend at our tailgate against Auburn, our friends Andy and Heidi introduced us to a tailgating item that we have never seen before.

We have a tendancy to often claim recipes as "The Best Ever" but seriously, this was one is really up there. Let us introduce to you.....the Walking Taco!  Basically, the walking taco is an individual size bag of Doritos that is snipped open, crunched up and then topped with all your favorite taco goodies.  Grab a fork and you have yourself a Walking Taco!  This is perhaps the simplest, easiest, most innovative tailgating food ever!

From what we hear about these snacks it sounds like they originated from the Mid-west...our friend is from Kansas.  But, we definitely want to bring these down South.

Bama Bombs

The basis of any good southern tailgate is Bourbon. You can use it in marinades for ribs or chicken, you can add it to your hot chocolate on a chilly November morning, have it on the rocks after a great win, and of course it always goes great with its best friend, Coca Cola! So why not soak some maraschino cherries in Bourbon (or your favorite liquor) before the big game for a quick bite during your tailgate??!!??
Two years ago at the UGA/Bama game a friend of ours introduced us to what they call BAMA BOMBS. According to Warren St. John, the author of Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer: A Road Trip into the Heart of Fan Mania, real BAMA BOMB’s consists of cherries marinated in golden grain alcohol for a period of weeks or months.

That is a serious snack! We have found that 1-2 days in advance of soaking the cherries works too! Simply pour out all the cherry juice and replace it with the liquor. Then store them in the fridge or cooler until you are ready to eat them.
Since she introduced them to us we have seen them made with several different liquors and named many different things. Depending on your school and favorite player, you can name “BAMA BOMBS” a zillion different ways. Definitely try these at your next tailgate party!!
Happy Gameday!
